So right now a co-worker and I are stuck in the MDF (data closet) while the school has a mock-lockdown. As soon as we arrived on site they told us this was a test. All the teachers knew beforehand but the students did not. There are several teachers in here with us and about 10 elementary students. I never participated in something like this before. Sitting here, in the dark I find myself thinking a lot about if this had been real. Pretty scary to think about. That children this small have to experience this. They are tense and fidgety as you would expect. It reminds me of Anne Frank or other Holocaust stories. Hiding for who knows how long during WWII. We are supposed to be in here for 10-15 min but it already feels longer than that. I am glad the teachers and students are OK. I wish they didn't have to do this sort of thing. I wish our world didn't require this of us. We all deserve to live a life as free from fear as possible.
